FLAMES
Flames
Our love was a bonfire of orange flames dancing to and fro,
Embers were lighting our world and warming our hearts.
Once those first few sparks caught, the fire engulfed
Into a swirling kaleidoscope of frantic flames.
We never had to worry about the fire dying,
For our friendship lay the embers;
Alway glowing and fueling
Whatever was to come...
...One day the flames stopped.
Embers dimmed and smoke rose.
Now, I can still feel my lungs burning
And my eyes sting as I fall down, heave, and cry
In pitiful attempts to look at you. I try to poke for answers
But the fire we created stopped keeping you warm long before me
I am the one left getting burned now.
I am the only one that is still playing with the fucking matches.
